The first Blockchain Technology skill competition has finished within the framework of the International competition on promising technologies and skills BRICS+ Future Skills & Tech Challenge 2024.

In 2024, the Russian Federation will preside over the BRICS Interstate Association (BRICS) and the BRICS Business Council.

The BRICS Business Council Working Group on Professional Training, Applied Technologies and Innovation from the Russian Federation is headed by Skills Development Agency in the framework of the Working Group's activities, events aimed at developing promising skills and technologies of hi-tech industries of the BRICS+ countries will be held in 2024.

International competition on promising technologies and skills BRICS Future Skills & Tech Challenge 2024 will be one of the main event of the Working Group in 2024.

Within the framework of the BRICS+ Competition, assessment activities will be held in full-time and distributed formats on the basis of advanced industry skills centers and production sites in order to develop technological and educational exchanges.

In April 2024, the Skills Development Agency, together with the Institute of Computer Technologies and Information Security of the Southern Federal University , launched the first competitive events as part of the BRICS+ Championship for the “Blockchain Technology” skill.

Web3 Tech - the company was a technology partner of the competition.

Сompany Experts became co-authors of the Championship case, which formed the basis of the competition task, and also provided infrastructure, organizational and technical support for the Championship.

15 years have passed since the launch of the first blockchain network. Today, there are already dozens of blockchain platforms that are used to build various information systems, including global payment systems, corporate platforms for document management or systems for controlling supply chains. Users now have access to decentralized services for transfers, automated control of contractual obligations, new concepts in the online gaming industry, and much more.

During this time, there has been a huge advance in the IT industry – the digital infrastructure of the country and the whole world is developing before our eyes. Existing concepts of the digital economy are being developed and new ones are emerging, including those using blockchain technologies.

Together with international experts from the EAEU and BRICS+ countries, an Blockchain Technologies International skills specification was developed in 2023, which was tested in 2024 and became the basis for forming the competitive task of the Championship.

Today, the global economy faces the task of unifying international transfers and simplifying the interaction of counterparties, as well as controlling trade turnover. This is exactly what the case was dedicated to, which was offered to the participants of the Championship to perform. They had to develop an information system based on the Russian blockchain platform "Confident" from the company Web3 Tech which will allow establishing transnational processes of trade turnover between producers, suppliers, distributors and buyers, including cross-border payments. Today, this case is particularly relevant for the BRICS+ countries

For two days, the contestants studied the technical task assigned to them and worked on the implementation of the information system. On the third day of the competition, participants presented the prospects for project development, possible expansion of functionality, and ways to integrate the information system.

This year, 8 participants from Russia, China, Ghana and South Africa took part in the Championship.

As part of the international competition, the places were distributed as follows::

1st place - Egor Gladkikh, Russia;

2nd place – Xu Jie, China;

3rd place - Agyemang Serebour, Ghana;

4th place - Mbuyisa Nobuhle, South Africa.

In the BRICS Ranking, the prizes were distributed among participants from Russia, China and South Africa, respectively.

The results of this competition stage will be the main stage for the preparation and holding of the BRICS+ Engineering Teams Competition for the developing technological products in the following skills in the "Blockchain Technologies" skill within the framework of the Super Cup BRICS Future Skills & Tech Challenge 2024, which will be held in Autumn 2024 in Kazan.
